December 2015 LGBT Events in Ft Lauderdale


On this Blog, I will post a highlight of some of the LGBT non-profit and political events that are going on in Ft. Lauderdale each month, so folks who want to attend can put them on their Calendars.

Tuesday, December 1 – Mack Power Lunch – 11:30am – 1:30pm at Thasos Greek Taverna, 3330 E. Oakland Park Blvd. Fort Lauderdale.  At the beginning of every Power Lunch we offer approx. 30 minutes to introduce yourself and chat with fellow attendees in a social setting. There may be a very brief presentation by an event sponsor to share insights and industry information. Tuesday, December 1 – World AIDS Day Vigil and Remembrance Walk – 7:00pm. Hagen Park, 2020 Wilton Drive, Wilton Manors. Broward House invites our community to come together for a World AIDS Day Vigil and Remembrance Walk. We will meet at Hagen Park and walk down Wilton Drive united in memory, healing, and love. The candlelit walk will culminate at the Pride Center at Equality Park for a few words of respectful remembrance, support, and continued vigilance. Wednesday, Dec 2 – Lambda Legal Sponsor Thank You and 2016 Kickoff Reception – 6:00pm - 8:00pm. Sonesta Hotel – Horizon Ballroom. Lambda Legal welcomes 2015 event sponsors and other invited guests to a celebration of last March’s successful event and the kickoff of the 2016 season. Cocktails and hors d’hoeuvres in a spectacular setting.

Thursday, December 3 – GLLN Social Luncheon – 11:45am – 1:15pm. TIMPANO CHOPHOUSE

The mission for the gay & lesbian lawyers network is to provide a social network in which gay, lesbian and gay friendly lawyers can develop their practices through friendships, referral relationships and professional development. Tuesday, December 8 – GFLGLCC Quarterly Networking Lunch – 11:30am – 1:30pm. Thirteen, 2390 Wilton Drive, Wilton Manors. Please join us for the GFLGLCC Quarterly Holiday Networking Luncheon and Toy Drive, benefiting the Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center, presented by our newest Corporate Partner, Comcast Business. You'll meet new friends, make business connections and enjoy a wonderful luncheon prepared by Thirteen, located in the heart of Wilton Manors. Thirteen will serve a 3-course lunch, choice of nonalcoholic beverage, inclusive of tax and gratuity. Cocktails, wine and beer are available. Tuesday, December 8 – Pride Center Founders Circle Reception – 6:00 pm- 8:00 pm. Gallery One Hotel, 2670 East Sunrise Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, FL 333304. The Founder's Circle are individuals who make a monthly gift of $100 to the Pride Center. If you are interested in attending the event to see what it is all about, there is no commitment to become a Founder, just a chance to meet folks and hear about the great work the Pride Center is doing. Free parking is available but limited. Friday, December 11 – SunServe Silver Serve Luncheon – 11:00am – 1:00pm (Second Friday of the Month). ArtServe, 1350 E. Sunrise Blvd. Fort Lauderdale, FL. Every Second Friday of the Month. SunServe is a model 501(c)(3) nonprofit social service agency serving the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning (LGBTQ) community in South Florida. We provide high quality, compassionate, and progressive care for all, including those in financial need, minorities, youth, seniors, families, and those with life-challenging physical or emotional conditions. Harold Dioquino, Interim Conductor.  The holidays are truly the time of year for love. They are the most memorable moments to gather with those we love and mark important faith traditions and family traditions. Saturday, December 12 – Pride Center Bingo – Second Saturdays of Each Month. 6:30 p.m. doors open; 7:30 p.m. Pride Center, 2040 N. Dixie Hwy, Wilton Manors. Main Hall, Schubert Building. Bingo; proceeds benefit The Pride Center. The cost is $15.00 for the Bingo Package.  There will be a concession stand open and there is a 50/50 raffle. Wednesday, December 16 – The Equality Garden Club – The Equality Park Garden Club meets every 3rd Wednesday of the month except December.  It is a Gay and straight friendly garden club with a variety of plant related events.  Meetings include a guest speaker with a horticultural topic, plant exchange, raffle table, and refreshments. Friday, December 18 –Well Strung Benefit Performance for Stonewall National 
Museum  Archives – 7:30pm. Amaturo Theater at the Broward Center, 201 SW 5th Ave., Fort Lauderdale. Celebrate the holidays in style with Well-Strung, a hunky and talented all-male singing string quartet that is taking the musical world by storm with its signature pop-classical mashups. November through April, along the 1.1 mile Wilton Drive, in the Wilton Manors Art and Entertainment District. The official participants include galleries, eclectic stores, cafes, boutiques and upscale restaurants, which will host over 40 local artists. This is a grassroots collaboration bringing culture and business together for the public to enjoy. Experience Stonewall Gallery, as part of the Art Walk On Wilton Drive. Museum & Archives – 7:00pm. Parker Playhouse, 707 NE 8th Street, Fort Lauderdale. Lea DeLaria, Star of Orange is The New Black, Ground-Breaking Lesbian Comedian, Broadway Performer and Singer Live on Stage at The Parker Playhouse. Tickets include the best seats in the house, a pre-show open bar, passed hors d’oeuvres, our incredible silent auction and a champagne reception with a photo of you and Lea DeLaria.
