On this Blog, I will post a highlight of some of the LGBT non-profit and political events that are going on in Ft. Lauderdale each month, so folks who want to attend can put them on their Calendars.

Thursday, Aug 3 – GLLN Social Luncheon – 11:45am - 1:15pm. Timpano’s, 450 E Las Olas Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301. Monthly luncheons are on the first Thursday of every month. The mission for the gay & lesbian lawyers network is to provide a social network in which gay, lesbian and gay friendly lawyers can develop their practices through friendships, referral relationships and professional development. Wednesday, Aug 9 – Dolphin Democrats Meeting – Second Wednesday of Each Month. 7:00pm. The Pride Center, 2040 A North Dixie Highway, Wilton Manors, FL. 7:00 pm – Pizza and social. 7:30 pm – Meeting. “Further, it shall be the mission of this organization to foster good will between gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) members of the Democratic Party and the community at large. Friday, Aug 11 – SunServe Silver Serve Luncheon – 11:00am – 1:00pm (Second Friday of the Month). ArtServe, 1350 E. Sunrise Blvd. Fort Lauderdale, FL. Every Second Friday of the Month. SunServe is a model 501(c)(3) nonprofit social service agency serving the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning (LGBTQ) community in South Florida. We provide high quality, compassionate, and progressive care for all, including those in financial need, minorities, youth, seniors, families, and those with life-challenging physical or emotional conditions. We start at a later time this year with Registration from 12-1 and the event beginning at 1pm. Online registration starts March 1st. Saturday, Aug 12 – Pride Center Bingo – Second Saturdays of Each Month. 6:30 p.m. doors open; 7:30 p.m. Pride Center, 2040 N. Dixie Hwy, Wilton Manors. Main Hall, Schubert Building. Bingo; proceeds benefit The Pride Center. The cost is $15.00 for the Bingo Package.  There will be a concession stand open and there is a 50/50 raffle. Tuesday, Aug 15 – GFLGLCC August Mixer– 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM. Salty Bar inside Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort 1111 N. Ocean Dr. Hollywood, FL 33019. Wednesday, Aug 16 – The Equality Garden Club – The Equality Park Garden Club meets every 3rd Wednesday of the month except December.  It is a Gay and straight friendly garden club with a variety of plant related events.  Meetings include a guest speaker with a horticultural topic, plant exchange, raffle table, and refreshments. Tuesday, Aug 22  Broward House and Our Fund Foundation Cornerstone Fund Kick-off 6:00pm - 8:00 pm. BNY Mellon, 350 East Las Olas Blvd.  Suite 1400, Fort Lauderdale. For nearly 30 years Broward House has provided housing as the cornerstone of healing for those affected and infected by HIV/AIDS.  Broward House recognizes that individuals are more able to accept services and adhere to health care in a safe environment in which a variety of needs are addressed which lead to expanding services to include prevention, education, case management, collaborative medical care, mental health and substance abuse treatment. A range of vital housing services remain at the core of Broward House’s mission. Broward House has turned to Our Fund Foundation as it launches The Broward House Cornerstone Fund – a capital project fund that will be maintained and invested at Our Fund. Every fourth Monday of the month, SAGE men meet at Tropics for cocktails, dinner and lively conversation. Monday, November 13  – Our Fund’s 7th Annual LGBT Leadership Forum –  6:00pm. NSU Museum of Art Horvitz Auditorium One East Las Olas Blvd. Fort Lauderdale, FL 3330. The theme is: Florida’s LGBT Future. Our Fund Foundation is gathering a panel of visionary leaders who understand the importance of coalition-buidling to advance LGBT values statewide. Using lessons learned from Colorado in the early 2000s as progressives swept into power in that state, our panel will discuss how Florida can position itself to experience a similar trend. On this Blog, I will post a highlight of some of the LGBT non-profit and political Events that are going on in Ft. Lauderdale each month, so folks who want to attend can put them on their Calendars. With that in mind, here are the events I want to highlight for March 2013: March Events: Friday, March 1 – Opening Reception for Stonewall National Museum & Archives Exhibit – 6:00pm – 8:00pm Stonewall National Museum & Archives,1300 East Sunrise Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale. Opening reception of photo essay by local media artist Kim Cohane featuring profiles of creative LGBTQ youth. Kim and many any artists depicted will be present.
