On this Blog, I will post a highlight of some of the LGBT non-profit and political events that are going on in Ft. Lauderdale each month, so folks who want to attend can put them on their Calendars.

Thursday, Dec 7 – GLLN Holiday Party – 6:00 pm - 09:00 pm. Mind your manors, 2045 Wilton Drive, Wilton Manors. Please join us for our holiday party. Free hors d’oeuvres and two free drinks will be provided (including premium liquors). Please register early and invite your friends and colleagues before we are sold out! Thursday, Dec 7 – Pride Center Founders Circle Reception – 6:00pm - 8:00pm. The Westin Fort Lauderdale 400 Corporate Drive, Fort Lauderdale. The Founder's Circle are individuals who make a monthly gift of $100 to the Pride Center. If you are interested in attending the event to see what it is all about, there is no commitment to become a Founder, just a chance to meet folks and hear about the great work the Pride Center is doing. Friday, Dec 8 – SunServe Silver Serve Luncheon – 11:00am – 1:00pm (Second Friday of the Month). ArtServe, 1350 E. Sunrise Blvd. Fort Lauderdale, FL. Every Second Friday of the Month. SunServe is a model 501(c)(3) nonprofit social service agency serving the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning (LGBTQ) community in South Florida. We provide high quality, compassionate, and progressive care for all, including those in financial need, minorities, youth, seniors, families, and those with life-challenging physical or emotional conditions. Saturday, Dec 9 – Pride Center Bingo – Second Saturdays of Each Month. 6:30 p.m. doors open; 7:30 p.m. Pride Center, 2040 N. Dixie Hwy, Wilton Manors. Main Hall, Schubert Building. Bingo; proceeds benefit The Pride Center. The cost is $15.00 for the Bingo Package.  There will be a concession stand open and there is a 50/50 raffle. Monday, Dec 11 – Dean Trantalis for Mayor Fundraiser – Please join Dean Trantalis and the campaign team for a special fundraising reception at the home of Scott Bennett. We will be enjoying an evening of delicious hors d'oeuvres and refreshments while discussing Fort Lauderdale's many important issues. We'll get to meet Dean and talk with him as he shares what he plans to do to get Fort Lauderdale's government working for its residents again. Friday, January 19 & Saturday, January 20 – Smart Ride 14 – Miami to Key West - The SMART Ride began as a dream to create a bicycle event where 100% of pledges raised could go back to the communities to be used for direct services. Wilton Manors Art Expo – Held on the 3rd Saturday of each month – 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm. January through March, along the 1.1 mile Wilton Drive, in the Wilton Manors Art and Entertainment District. A Showcase of local artists, craftsmen, musicians, and businesses in the Arts & Entertainment District and Dixie Village. Lauderdale each month, so folks who want to attend can put them on their Calendars. With that in mind, here are the events I want to highlight for March 2013: March Events: Friday, March 1 – Opening Reception for Stonewall National Museum & Archives Exhibit – 6:00pm – 8:00pm Stonewall National Museum & Archives,1300 East Sunrise Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale. Opening reception of photo essay by local media artist Kim Cohane featuring profiles of creative LGBTQ youth. Kim and many any artists depicted will be present.
