October 2012 LGBT Events in Ft. Lauderdale


On this Blog, I will post a highlight of some of the LGBT non-profit and political Events that are going on in Ft. Lauderdale each month, so folks who want to attend can put them on their Calendars. With that in mind, here are the events I want to highlight for October:

Saturday, September 29 – A SunServe Fundraiser Julian's 1st Annual Reverse Quinceanera Pageant 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm at Second Presbyterian Church Hall located at 1400 N. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale (across from J Marks). Tickets are $45.00 at the door. Includes food and cocktails provided by Pinche Taqueria. Suggested (but not required!) attire: Mexican Fiesta! Saturday, September 29 – The Naughty Show by ArtsUnited, Inc. 7:00pm - 9:00pm. Come explore your naughty side through an art show of erotic and naughty work. Show runs Wednesday through Saturday Noon to 6pm at the Broward Art Guild. Admission to the party is $10. Decadent desserts and an Erotic Penny Auction. Fetish/Fantasy Attire is ok! 

Sunday, September 30 – Pride Center Founder's Brunch
11am – 4pm. 2040 North Dixie Highway, Bldg A, Main Hall, Wilton Manors, FL 33305. The Founders Circle is a group of the Pride Center’s most generous donors. The Founder's Circle are individuals who make a monthly gift of $100 to the Pride Center. If you are interested in attending the event to see what it is all about, just email me at rubinlee@yahoo.com and I will put you on the Guest list. There is no commitment to become a Founder, just a chance to meet folks and hear about the great work the Pride Center is doing.

Saturday, October 6, 2012 - Pride Pack Smartride 9 Fundraiser Flea Market at the Pride Center. 7:00am until 1:00pm. 2040 North Dixie Highway, Bldg A, Main Hall, Wilton Manors, FL 33305. Saturday, October 6, 2012 - Men's Night Out Pool Party, Celebrating Michael Papandrea's 37th B-Day and 2 Year Anniversary of MNO & Smart Ride Fundraiser. 12:00pm until 6:00pm. Bootlegger 3003 NE 32nd avenue. Raise money for "smart ride" and the bikers for "let's roll bitches" team # 992 http://thesmartride.org/ raffles to be given out throughout the event/jello shots! Thursday, October 4 – Sunday, October 7, Fort Lauderdale Gay and Lesbian Film Festival. Gateway Theater, Sunrise and Federal Highway. The Fort Lauderdale Gay & Lesbian Film Festival is new and emerging with a goal of bringing the best in LGBT cinema to Fort Lauderdale and the Broward County community. Screenings will be held throughout the greater Fort Lauderdale area with the major cinema venue at The Classic Gateway.

Saturday, October 6 - National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Miami Recognition Dinner. 6:30pm - Midnight. The Miami Recognition Dinner is an important South Florida tradition. It not only allows the LGBT community and its supporters to celebrate our heroes, it also provides a vital source of funding for the community on the local and national levels. The 16th Annual Miami Recognition Dinner, will return to the spectacular Sparkle Ballroom of the Fontainebleau Miami Beach. The evening features two cocktail receptions (one for VIP guests), a sit-down dinner, a silent auction, an awards ceremony, and dancing. http://www.thetaskforce.org/mrd12/mrd12.html

Saturday, October 6 - Stonewall National Museum & Archives Reception followed by Film at Fort Lauderdale Gay and Lesbian Film Festival. 6:00 pm at Stonewall National Museum & Archives, 1300 East Sunrise Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304. Following the presentation of the documentary at the Gateway Theatre. Stonewall National Museum & Archives, working in conjunction with the Film Festival, is sponsoring this documentary, and will have an exhibition on the life and legacy of this gay Catholic priest, founder of the LGBT spiritual movement "Dignity" and a pioneering voice of gay liberation.

Tuesday, October 9, 2012 - Mack Mixer at Tap 42. 6:30-9:30pm. American Social 721 E. Las Olas Blvd. Fort Lauderdale. Fun, yet professional, cocktail socials in Fort Lauderdale. Saturday, October 13, 2012 - Bingo at the Pride Center of South Florida 6:30pm – 10:00pm. 2040 North Dixie Highway Wilton Manors, FL 33305. Have a GAY old time at this very popular and always fun BINGO! Wednesday, October 17, 2012 - Founder's Circle Event for the Pride Center of South Florida. 6:00pm - 8:00pm at Mayor's Jewelry – Galleria Mall, Ft.
