August LGBT Events in Ft. Lauderdale

On this Blog, I will post a highlight of some of the LGBT non-profit and political events that are going on in Ft. Lauderdale each month, so folks who want to attend can put them on their Calendars. 

Monday, July 29 – Dining with Pride at Christina Wans – 7:00pm. Christina Wans, 664 N. Federal Hwy, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33304. Tuesday, July 30 – The Pride Center’s Fouders Circle Reception – 6:00 – 8:00pm. Exit 66 Beach House Lounge, 219 S.  Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd, Fort Lauderdale, FL. The Founder's Circle are individuals who make a monthly gift of $100 to the Pride Center. If you are interested in attending the event to see what it is all about, just email me at rubinlee@yahoo.com and I will put you on the Guest list. There is no commitment to become a Founder, just a chance to meet folks and hear about the great work the Pride Center is doing.

Saturday, August 3 – Paverello’s 23rd Annual Bowling to Fight Hunger – 11:00am – 3:00pm. Sawgrass Lanes, 8501 North University Drive, Tamarac, FL. – Formerly, Poverello's bowlathon, Bowling to Fight Hunger is a high energy fun charity bowling event. Teams consist of 5 bowlers each. Register, form a team and start raising money to fight hunger. All proceeds to help Poverello carry out its mission of proving life-saving food and basic life essentials to those living with HIV / AIDS. www.HungerFighter.org

Tuesday, August 6 – Mack Power Lunch – 11:30am – 1:30pm at Grille 401
401 E Las Olas Blvd., Ft. Lauderdale, FL. At the beginning of every Power Lunch we offer approx. 30 minutes to introduce yourself and chat with fellow attendees in a social setting. There may be a very brief presentation by an event sponsor to share insights and industry information. Sunday, August 18 – Equali-Tea Dance – 2:00pm – 6:00pm. Royal Palms Resort and Spa, 717 Breakers Ave, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33304. Equality Florida and The Royal Palms Resort and Spa invite you to join us for an Equali-Tea Dance, a free event! Wednesday, August 21 – The Equality Garden Club – The Equality Park Garden Club meets every 3rd Wednesday of the month except December.  It is a Gay and Straight friendly garden club with a variety of plant related events.  Meetings include a guest speaker with a horticultural topic, plant exchange, raffle table, and refreshments. Saturday, November 9 - National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Miami Recognition Dinner. – 6:30pm - Midnight. The Miami Recognition Dinner is an important South Florida tradition. It not only allows the LGBT community and its supporters to celebrate our heroes, it also provides a vital source of funding for the community on the local and national levels. The 17th Annual Miami Recognition Dinner, will return to the spectacular Sparkle Ballroom of the Fontainebleau Miami Beach. The evening features two cocktail receptions (one for VIP guests), a sit-down dinner, a silent auction, an awards ceremony, and dancing. http://www.miamirecognitiondinner.org/

Lauderdale each month, so folks who want to attend can put them on their Calendars. With that in mind, here are the events I want to highlight for March 2013: March Events: Friday, March 1 – Opening Reception for Stonewall National Museum & Archives Exhibit – 6:00pm – 8:00pm Stonewall National Museum & Archives,1300 East Sunrise Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale. Opening reception of photo essay by local media artist Kim Cohane featuring profiles of creative LGBTQ youth. Kim and many any artists depicted will be present.
