On this Blog, I will post a highlight of some of the LGBT non-profit and political events that are going on in Ft. Lauderdale each month, so folks who want to attend can put them on their Calendars. 

Monday, September 30th – The Pride Center’s Dining With Pride – Lunch and Dinner. Mancini Modern Italian, 401 East Las Olas Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301. Tuesday, October 1 – Mack Power Lunch – 11:30am – 1:30pm at S3 @ Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach, 505 N Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd., Ft. Lauderdale, FL. At the beginning of every Power Lunch we offer approx. 30 minutes to introduce yourself and chat with fellow attendees in a social setting. There may be a very brief presentation by an event sponsor to share insights and industry information. Thursday, October 3 – Equality Florida Fall Mixer for Major Donors 6:00pm-8:00pm. This is final Florida Council Mixer of the year and one you don’t want to miss! We will be joined by State Representative Joe Saunders who will update us on his first year in Tallahassee and the many developments in the fight for LGBT equality in Florida. Our Florida Council Mixers are special appreciation events for you, our major donors, community leaders and special friends. Enjoy delicious hors d'oeuvres, refreshing beverages, and great company. Saturday, October 5 – Pride Night at the Fort Lauderdale Strikers vs. Tampa Bay Rowdies – 7:30. Lockhart Stadium, 5201 NW 12th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309. Tuesday, October 8 – Mack Mixer Fort Lauderdale – 6:30pm - 9:00pm. Chima Brazilian Steakhouse. 2400 East Las Olas Blvd. Fort Lauderdale, FL . There’s no doubt MACK continues to redesign how business people create new relationships and establish friendships - regardless of sexuality. MACK aims to be the most reliable business and social network for the Gay and Lesbian Community of South Florida. Wednesday, October 16 – The Equality Garden Club – The Equality Park Garden Club meets every 3rd Wednesday of the month except December.  It is a Gay and straight friendly garden club with a variety of plant related events.  Meetings include a guest speaker with a horticultural topic, plant exchange, raffle table, and refreshments. Saturday, October 19 – National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Broward Event – 7:00pm – 9:30pm. At the home of Dr. Russell Sassani & Michael Schneider, 139 Fiesta Way, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301 Join the Task Force for an evening cocktails and hors d’oeuvres with Executive Director Rea Carey. $50 suggested donation. Monday, October 28 LGBT Legislative Town Hall 6:00pm – 9:00pm. Wilton Manors City Hall, Commission Chambers, 2020 Wilton Drive, Wilton Manors, FL 33305. Hosted by Representative Perry Thurston, House Democratic Leader, will be hosting a legislative town to hear from LGBT Floridians on legislative matters as state legislators return to Tallahassee for another legislative session. Other state legislators will be invited and the town hall will be an official function of the Representative's office and not a partisan activity.

Saturday, November 9 - National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Miami Recognition Dinner. – 6:30pm - Midnight. The Miami Recognition Dinner is an important South Florida tradition. It not only allows the LGBT community and its supporters to celebrate our heroes, it also provides a vital source of funding for the community on the local and national levels. The 17th Annual Miami Recognition Dinner, will return to the spectacular Sparkle Ballroom of the Fontainebleau Miami Beach. The evening features two cocktail receptions (one for VIP guests), a sit-down dinner, a silent auction, an awards ceremony, and dancing. http://www.miamirecognitiondinner.org/

Sunday, November 17 – Equality Florida's Annual Broward Gala Waterfront Terrace at Pier 66. You are cordially invited to join us for this wonderful event that includes drinks, delicious hors d'oevres, an exciting program, including a special address by Equality Florida Executive Director Nadine Smith. March LGBT Events in Ft. Lauderdale

On this Blog, I will post a highlight of some of the LGBT non-profit and political Events that are going on in Ft. Lauderdale each month, so folks who want to attend can put them on their Calendars. With that in mind, here are the events I want to highlight for March 2013: March Events: Friday, March 1 – Opening Reception for Stonewall National Museum & Archives Exhibit – 6:00pm – 8:00pm Stonewall National Museum & Archives,1300 East Sunrise Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale. Opening reception of photo essay by local media artist Kim Cohane featuring profiles of creative LGBTQ youth. Kim and many any artists depicted will be present.
