On this Blog, I will post a highlight of some of the LGBT non-profit and political events that are going on in Ft. Lauderdale each month, so folks who want to attend can put them on their Calendars.

Monday, November 4 – Stonewall Museum Exhibit Opening – 6:00pm – 8:00pm.
Stonewall National Museum,1300 E Sunrise Blvd Fort Lauderdale, 33304. Opening Night for Donors and Friends of SNMA. STRIKE A POSE, thru January 5, 2014 – Hester Gallery Mid-Century Beefcake. Monday, November 4 – The eighth annual Taste of the Island – 6:00pm – 9:00pm. Richardson Historic Park and Nature Preserve located at 1937 Wilton Drive, Wilton Manors, Florida. An evening of great food and wine tasting from over 40 restaurants, music and a silent auction! Tickets are $30 in advance and $40 the day of the event. Proceeds will benefit the Wilton Manors Historical Society, Wilton Manors Development Alliance, Wilton Manors Leisure Services Department and the Wilton Manors Kiwanis Club. Tuesday, November 5 – 2nd Annual Pride Center and Women in Network Thanksgiving Food Drive Kickoff to benefit Paverello– 5:30pm – 7:30pm at Chill Wine Lounge 1828 Sunrise Blvd., Ft. Lauderdale. The Poverello Center, Inc. is to provide life-saving food and basic living essentials with the highest degree of understanding, respect and love for individuals living with HIV/AIDS, who are residents of Broward County and meet the specified qualifications for services. Minimum $10 donation or $10 in non-perishable food. Include one glass of wine and a light appetizer. Suggested food items: Canned Goods, Boxed Goods, and Personal Care items. www.pridecenterflorida.org


Thursday, November 7 – Chipotle Donating 50% of proceeds to The Pride Center's Pride Pack Team for Smart Ride 10– 12:00pm – 2:00pm and 6:00pm – 8:00pm. Chipotle, 1736 N. Federal Hwy. Show your team spirit by joining us for a fundraiser to support the Pride Center's Pride Pack Team for Smart Ride 10. Just come into the Chipotle at 1736 N. Federal Hwy on Thursday, November 7th from 12:00pm to 2:00pm or from 6:00 to 8:00pm, and bring in this flyer, show it on your smartphone or tell the cashier and 50% of proceeds will be donated to the team. www.pridecenterflorida.org


Saturday, November 9 – New Moon’s Cocktails for a Cause. – 4:00pm – 8:00pm. New Moon presents Cocktails for a Cause, an Iron Ladies event to raise money for Broward House and the Lillian S. Wells Foundation. We will be pouring 2-4-1 cocktails and a suggested donation of $20 includes the buffet and your first raffle ticket! We will be pouring 2-4-1 cocktails too! Proceeds from the event will benefit Broward House, South Florida’s oldest and largest HIV/AIDS Community Service organization with 15 locations throughout Broward County. Saturday, November 9 - National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Miami Recognition Dinner. – 6:30pm - Midnight. The Miami Recognition Dinner is an important South Florida tradition. It not only allows the LGBT community and its supporters to celebrate our heroes, it also provides a vital source of funding for the community on the local and national levels. The 17th Annual Miami Recognition Dinner, will return to the spectacular Sparkle Ballroom of the Fontainebleau Miami Beach. The evening features two cocktail receptions (one for VIP guests), a sit-down dinner, a silent auction, an awards ceremony, and dancing. http://www.miamirecognitiondinner.org/


Saturday, November 9 – South Florida Pride Wind Ensemble. – 7:00pm – 9:30. The Amaturo Theater at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, Ft. Lauderdale, FL. The South Florida Pride Wind Ensemble will perform All’s Fair in Love and War, featuring works from many of your favorite composers. Monday, November 11 – Our-Fund Third Annual National LGBT Leadership Forum. – 5:00pm Registration, 5:30pm Forum, 7:00 PM Reception. Horvitz Auditorium, adjacent to the Museum of Arts|Fort Lauderdale, One East Las Olas Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33301. Our Fund is proud to present our third annual National LGBT Leadership Forum, Strategy after Supreme Decision - Steps towards full equality after DOMA, a roundtable discussion about the future strategy to achieve full equality. With Moderator: Lee Rubin, Community Leader, Philanthropist, Social Media devotee and member of Our Fund's Board of Directors. Lauderdale Ale House, 2861 N Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33306. Broward County's premiere gay-friendly networking organization, maximizing our members business profitability. Sunday, November 17 – Equality Florida's Annual Broward Gala – Waterfront Terrace at Pier 66. You are cordially invited to join us for this wonderful event that includes drinks, delicious hors d'oevres, an exciting program, including a special address by Equality Florida Executive Director Nadine Smith. Monday, November 18– GFLGLCC Legal Panel for LGBT Families and 
Couples in Post-DOMA Florida – 5:30pm. Embassy Suites Fort Lauderdale, 1100 SE 17th Street, Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Please join prominent attorneys Richard Milstein, Stephanie Schneider and Luis Font will discuss legal issues in family law, elder law and immigration law impacting Florida LGBT couples and families, post-DOMA. There will be a brief networking opportunity before the panel begins. Complimentary self-parking or valet for $8. Tuesday, November 19 – Palm Beach County Human Rights Council 25th Anniversary Celebration– 6:00pm – 9:00pm. Four Seasons Palm Beach, Palm Beach, FL. Since 1988, the Palm Beach County Human Rights Council has worked diligently with public officials to successfully enact more than 60 local laws and policies that provide equal protection and benefits to Palm Beach County’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. Wednesday, November 20 – The Equality Garden Club – The Equality Park Garden Club meets every 3rd Wednesday of the month except December.  It is a Gay and straight friendly garden club with a variety of plant related events.  Meetings include a guest speaker with a horticultural topic, plant exchange, raffle table, and refreshments. March 5 -10 – National Gay and Lesbian Task Force’s Winter Party Festival  – Launched in 1994 as a one-time charity dance event on the sands of beautiful South Beach, Winter Party Festival has evolved into a week-long series of events benefiting the LGBT community nationally and locally.  A portion of the net proceeds of WPF support the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force's efforts to take action, build power and create change for LGBT people. The majority of the proceeds are donated to local service organizations through a grant-making process administered by The Miami Foundation.  Over 10,000 guests from around the world attend our annual six-day extravaganza featuring the most spectacular venues, the most unforgettable parties and receptions and the best international DJ talent. http://www.winterparty.com/about-winter-party-festival
