On this Blog, I will post a highlight of some of the LGBT non-profit and political events that are going on in Ft. Lauderdale each month, so folks who want to attend can put them on their Calendars.

Wednesday, June 3 – De Colores” Of Colors presented by Arts United  6:30pm- 8:00pm. The Pride Center, 2040 N Dixie Hwy, Main Hall, Room 206, second floor, Schubert Building, Wilton Manors, Florida 33305. All are welcome at our opening reception for the work of Jennifer Maria. We are partnering with Women in Network for this event. Refreshments will be served. The show runs through June. Wednesday, June 3 – Lambda Legal Fort Lauderdale Spring Momentum Mixer – 5:30 - 7:30 pm. J Marks 1245 N Federal Hwy., Fort Lauderdale, FL. Join fellow supporters for a mix-and-mingle evening of fun, appetizers, and a recap of Lambda Legal's oral arguments at the Supreme Court! Friday, June 12 – SunServe Silver Serve Luncheon – 11:00am – 1:00pm (Second Friday of the Month). ArtServe, 1350 E. Sunrise Blvd. Fort Lauderdale, FL. Every Second Friday of the Month. SunServe is a model 501(c)(3) nonprofit social service agency serving the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning (LGBTQ) community in South Florida. We provide high quality, compassionate, and progressive care for all, including those in financial need, minorities, youth, seniors, families, and those with life-challenging physical or emotional conditions. Saturday, June 13 – Pride Center Bingo – Second Saturdays of Each Month. 6:30 p.m. doors open; 7:30 p.m. games begin Main Hall, Schubert Building. Bingo; proceeds benefit The Pride Center. The cost is $15.00 for the Bingo Package.  There will be a concession stand open and there is a 50/50 raffle. In general about $1100.00 in prizes are given out. http://www.pridecenterflorida.org/

Wednesday, June 17 – The Equality Garden Club – The Equality Park Garden Club meets every 3rd Wednesday of the month except December.  It is a Gay and straight friendly garden club with a variety of plant related events.  Meetings include a guest speaker with a horticultural topic, plant exchange, raffle table, and refreshments. Thursday, June 18 – June Pride Center Founders Circle Reception 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Iberia Bank – Las Olas, 200 E. Las Olas Blvd, Fort Lauderdale, FL 3330. The Founder's Circle are individuals who make a monthly gift of $100 to the Pride Center. Thursday, June 18 – GLLN Happy Hour – 6:00pm – 8:00pm. TBD. Happy Hours are on the 3rd Thursday of every month at various locations. The mission for the Gay & Lesbian Lawyers Network is to provide a social network in which gay, lesbian and gay friendly lawyers can develop their practices through friendships, referral relationships and professional development. Saturday, June 20 – Stonewall Street Festival – Wilton Drive, Wilton Manors, FL. Event starts at 1:00pm. the Parade is at 6:00pm. Wilton Manors signature event, the Wilton Manors Stonewall Festival, is held every year in June. This years event features an evening parade. This is a community-wide event that draws a diverse crowd of approximately 30,000 individuals and families each year. The parade, street vendors, and live performances offer something for everyone and the city is proud to host this celebration every year. Lining the entire length of Wilton Drive will be vendor booths, food trucks, drink stations and non-profit organizations. The main stage will be located at Northeast 6th Avenue providing entertainment throughout the day. Tuesday, June 23 – GFLGLCC 4th Tuesday Member Spotlight Networking Luncheon 12:00pm - 1:15pm. Dapur Asian Tapas and Ultra Lounge, 1620 N. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33305. Members: $35. Future Members: $40. Price includes a 3-course lunch, beverage, tax and gratuity. We're expanding our Lunch, Learn & Network luncheons to spotlight 3 member businesses each month. While these 3 are spotlighted, we encourage all of the attendees to promote their business. This month's speakers will feature Todd Bludworth of AMI Global Meeting Solutions. Todd will speak about his LGBT Certification success story.  Adam Alvarado of Edward Jones will speak of the "Edward Jones Advantage" program and how it is so unique from similar investment programs. Last, Kevin Clevenger of Poverello will speak about Poverello's positive impact on our community and the upcoming Bowling to Fight Hunger Fundraiser event. In addition, we welcome YOU to speak briefly about your business. Each luncheon is limited to 25 people, which will allow more time to get to know the attendees

Wednesday, June 24 – Gaytime TV Improv Show in Wilton Manors to benefit Sun Serve  – 8:00pm- 9:30pm. The Abyss Theater, 2304 N. Dixie Highway, Wilton Manors, FL 33305. Come celebrate Pride with the Pride Pups' second annual Pride Show.  There has been so much progress toward equality since our troupe started.  Last year we were celebrating the ruling overturning DOMA.  With major victories like Marriage Equality in Florida the Pups thinks it is time to celebrate again!    Our troupe is so excited to bring you laughs with our TV inspired Improv show.  Tickets are $20 and with limited seating they go fast. Proceeds from the show will go to support Sun Serve and their outreach programs in Wilton Manor and Fort Lauderdale. Thursday, June 25 – State Of The HeART  – 6:00pm- 8:00pm. Stonewall Museum Gallery, 2157 Wilton Drive, Wilton Manors, Florida 33305. Join supporters of the Gay Men’s Chorus of South Flirda and Stonewall National Museum & Archives as celebrate Pride month and come together for “State of the HeART” and evening celebration of LGBT art, culture and conversation. A panel moderated by Fort Lauderdale Commissioner Dean J. Trantalis, will include David Jobin, Executive Director of Stonewall National Museum & Archives, Mark B. Kent, newly appointed Executive Director of the Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida, and Andy Rogow, Artistic Director of Island City Stage, leading a discussion about where local LGBT arts and cultural organizations are heading in the wake of the Supreme Court’s upcoming marriage decision and how that decision will impact philanthropy in the greater South Florida arts and LGBT communities. They will be joined in the conversation by local business leader(s)  who will then open the discussion for questions from the audience. The discussion will be immediately followed by a cocktail reception. Join us for what promises to be a lively, informal and informative evening of cocktails and conversation. Art Walk On Wilton Drive – Held on the 3rd Saturday of each month, 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm. November through April, along the 1.1 mile Wilton Drive, in the Wilton Manors Art and Entertainment District. The official participants include galleries, eclectic stores, cafes, boutiques and upscale restaurants, which will host over 40 local artists. This is a grassroots collaboration bringing culture and business together for the public to enjoy.  Experience Stonewall Gallery, as part of the Art Walk On Wilton Drive. Sidelines Sports & Video Bar will be hosting a casino night to benefit Bowling to Fight Hunger to benefit Poverello with Texas hold'em, Roulette and Black Jack. Buy in will be $25 for $2000 in chips. March LGBT Events in Ft. Lauderdale

On this Blog, I will post a highlight of some of the LGBT non-profit and political Events that are going on in Ft. Lauderdale each month, so folks who want to attend can put them on their Calendars. With that in mind, here are the events I want to highlight for March 2013: March Events: Friday, March 1 – Opening Reception for Stonewall National Museum & Archives Exhibit – 6:00pm – 8:00pm Stonewall National Museum & Archives,1300 East Sunrise Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale. Opening reception of photo essay by local media artist Kim Cohane featuring profiles of creative LGBTQ youth. Kim and many any artists depicted will be present.
