On this Blog, I will post a highlight of some of the LGBT non-profit and political events that are going on in Ft. Lauderdale each month, so folks who want to attend can put them on their Calendars.



Thursday, October 1 – GLLN Social Luncheon – 11:45am – 1:15pm. TIMPANO CHOPHOUSE

Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301. Monthly luncheons are on the first thursday of every month. The mission for the gay & lesbian lawyers network is to provide a social network in which gay, lesbian and gay friendly lawyers can develop their practices through friendships, referral relationships and professional development. SPEAKER: Amy Eichman, Esq. Amy is a Sole Attorney in law practice focusing on family law, including dissolution of marriage, paternity, custody, child support, alimony, adoption and assisted reproduction. She is also an Attorney/Associate in law practice and focuses on assisted reproduction law, including adoption, second parent adoption, same sex family formation, fertility agreements, surrogacy, egg, sperm and embryo donation. Additionally, Amy is a Contract Attorney/Associate in law practice focusing on family law, including dissolution of marriage, paternity, custody, child support and alimony. please make your reservations early, it is now glln policy that credit card payments or payments by check will not be accepted after 5pm on the monday before the luncheon, but if there is space available on the day of the event, we will accept payments (cash, credit card or check) at the door which will be an additional $5. You may pay using a credit card, paypal, or check. Cost is $25 for members and $30 for non-members. This includes the 5.00 late fee. You may pay by check or cash at the door. Tuesday, October 6 – Mack Power Lunch – 11:30am – 1:30pm at The Capital Grille

2430 East Sunrise Blvd., Ft. Lauderdale, FL (Complimentary Valet Parking) At the beginning of every Power Lunch we offer approx. 30 minutes to introduce yourself and chat with fellow attendees in a social setting. There may be a very brief presentation by an event sponsor to share insights and industry information. Tuesday, October 6 – The Taste of Equality – 6:00pm - 9:00pm. The Village of Gulfstream Park 901 S Federal Highway- Hallandale - Registration at Sirona Fine Art 600 Silks Run #1240. Equality Florida and The Village at Gulfstream Park are teaming up to host a mouthwateringly exciting evening, packed with great raffle prizes, tasty treats, savory sips, and more -- It's The Taste of Equality! Embark on this culinary journey and enjoy some of the fine restaurants, galleries, and shops of The Village at Gulfstream Park -- and learn how Equality Florida is bringing LGBT equality to our state. Tuesday, October 6 – Re-Launch of Mark’s List to benefit the Pride Center – 6:00pm. Pride Center, 2040 N. Dixie Hwy, Wilton Manors. More than a decade ago, Mark’s List Founder Mark Haines had a vision to create the most powerful LGBT digital network available.   Since his passing last year our mission has been to continue building the vision and take Mark’s List to the next level.  On October 6 we will proudly unveil what we believe is the next step in fulfillment of his dream. Cash Bar and Free Hors d’Oeuvres. 100% of proceeds benefiting the Pride Center.



Wednesday, October 7 – Stonewall Pub Crawl Wilton Drive - Proceeds Benefit Stonewall National Museum & Archives - 5:00pm. Join bars and restaurants throughout the Wilton Drive business community in supporting the Stonewall Gallery on October 7, 2015 from 5 - 11 pm for the 1st Annual Stonewall Pub Crawl. A percentage of revenues benefit Stonewall National Museum & Archives. Stonewall supporters and friends throughout the LGBT community are invited to patronize members of the Stonewall Business Circle to Wilton Drive in this officially sanctioned event kicking off Pride Fort Lauderdale. Thursday, October 8  – Stonewall Society opening night for “I am too, Coming Out Stories”  – 6:00-8:00 pm (New Time). Stonewall Gallery on Wilton Drive, 2157 Wilton Drive. Stonewall Society members are encouraged to bring guests with whom they want to share their interest and passion in the work of Stonewall National Museum & Archives. Friday, October 9 – SunServe Silver Serve Luncheon – 11:00am – 1:00pm (Second Friday of the Month). ArtServe, 1350 E. Sunrise Blvd. Fort Lauderdale, FL. Every Second Friday of the Month. SunServe is a model 501(c)(3) nonprofit social service agency serving the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning (LGBTQ) community in South Florida. We provide high quality, compassionate, and progressive care for all, including those in financial need, minorities, youth, seniors, families, and those with life-challenging physical or emotional conditions. Friday, October 9th until Sunday, October 18th – MiFo LGBT Film Fest – The MiFo LGBT Film Festival, a critically acclaimed event, has two film festivals per year: Miami in April and Fort Lauderdale in October. This year we have combined the names of the Miami and Fort Lauderdale Gay & Lesbian Film Festivals into MiFo. The 7th Annual Fort Lauderdale Edition takes place from Friday, October 9th until Sunday, October 18th. (Formerly the Fort Lauderdale Gay & Lesbian Film Festival) The 18th Annual Miami Edition takes place from Friday, April 22nd until Sunday, May 1st. (Formerly the Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival) The MiFo LGBT Film Festival is committed to its mission: to inspire, entertain, and educate the public, encourage a sense of community through international and culturally diverse film, video, and other media that offer historical and contemporary perspectives on the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender experience. http://mifofilm.com



Saturday, October 10 – Pride Center Bingo – Second Saturdays of Each Month. 6:30 p.m. doors open; 7:30 p.m. Pride Center, 2040 N. Dixie Hwy, Wilton Manors. Main Hall, Schubert Building. Bingo; proceeds benefit The Pride Center. The cost is $15.00 for the Bingo Package.  There will be a concession stand open and there is a 50/50 raffle. October 10 & 11 – PRIDE FORT LAUDERDALE – Come join the fun and show your PRIDE! Save the Dates! October 10 & 11 2015. Pride Fort Lauderdale festival will combine with National Coming Out Day and is also the weekend of the Fort Lauderdale Gay and Lesbian Film Festival. Pride Fort Lauderdale is partnering with the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention and Visitors Bureau to host the event, which is our 38th Annual and will feature the AHF (AIDS Health Care Foundation) as its signature sponsor. Sunday, Oct 11 - Official Pride Fort Lauderdale Closing Street Party - 6:00pm - Midnight. To celebrate National Coming Out Day, Downtown Himmarshee Village Association will host the Official Pride Fort Lauderdale Closing Street Party. This street festival under the stars in historic Himmarshee will benefit LGBTQ Youth Services at SunServe.



Tuesday, October 13 – Mack Mixer Fort Lauderdale – 6:30pm - 9:00pm. Thirteen, 2390 Wilton Drive, Wilton Manors, FL. There’s no doubt MACK continues to redesign how business people create new relationships and establish friendships - regardless of sexuality. MACK aims to be the most reliable business and social network for the Gay and Lesbian Community of South Florida. Wednesday, October 21 – The Equality Garden Club – The Equality Park Garden Club meets every 3rd Wednesday of the month except December.  It is a Gay and straight friendly garden club with a variety of plant related events.  Meetings include a guest speaker with a horticultural topic, plant exchange, raffle table, and refreshments. Thursday, October 22 – Pride Center Founders Circle Reception – 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. B Ocean Fort Lauderdale 1140 Seabreeze Boulevard Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316. The Founder's Circle are individuals who make a monthly gift of $100 to the Pride Center. If you are interested in attending the event to see what it is all about, there is no commitment to become a Founder, just a chance to meet folks and hear about the great work the Pride Center is doing. Free parking is available but limited. Saturday, October 24 – The National LGBTQ Task Force Gala – 6:30 PM - 12:00 AM. Fountainbleau Hotel, Miami, Florida. The National LGBTQ Task Force Gala - Miami, formerly the Miami Recognition Dinner, is an important South Florida tradition. It not only allows the LGBTQ community and its supporters to honor our heroes, it also provides a vital source of funding for the community on the local and national levels. The event is produced by the National LGBTQ Task Force, the oldest national organization dedicated to advancing full freedom for LGBTQ people, and also benefits many organizations serving the Miami-Dade LGBTQ community. http://www.miamirecognitiondinner.org/

Saturday, October 31  – Wicked Manors 2015: Once Upon a Drive  – Wilton Drive, 
Wilton Manors. The Pride Center's Wicked Manors, will once again partner with The City of Wilton Manors to create the largest event of the year! This historic, entertaining block party will occur on Saturday, October 31, 2015 starting at 7:00 PM and will benefit the vital programs and services of The Pride Center. This year's theme for Wicked Manors is "Once Upon A Drive!" and we anticipate over 30,000 attendees enjoying the evening. The block party will be held on Wilton Drive and traffic will be prohibited to provide a safe area for costumed guests to celebrate the Halloween festivities. Florida

Art Walk On Wilton Drive – Held on the 3rd Saturday of each month 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm. November through April, along the 1.1 mile Wilton Drive, in the Wilton Manors Art and Entertainment District. The official participants include galleries, eclectic stores, cafes, boutiques and upscale restaurants, which will host over 40 local artists. This is a grassroots collaboration bringing culture and business together for the public to enjoy.  Experience Stonewall Gallery, as part of the Art Walk On Wilton Drive. Monday, November 9 – Our Fund presents The 5th Annual National LGBT Leadership Forum and Reception – 5:00pm 7:00pm. Horvitz Auditorium, adjacent to the Museum of Art - Fort Lauderdale, One East Las Olas Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301. Join us for an in-depth discussion with national LGBT leaders regarding the future of equality, one week after the mid-term elections. Thursday, November 12 – Sunday, November 15 – SMART Ride – The SMART Ride began as a dream to create a bicycle event where 100% of pledges raised could go back to the communities to be used for direct services. What makes SMART Ride unique?  The ride is fully supported and designed to allow riders of all degrees of experience to participate. This is a ride not a race. The average rider raises over $2,020. Our participants come from across the State of Florida from as far south as Key West, as far North as Jacksonville, from Tampa to Palm Beach. We attract between 400-500 participants with each event, but we touch thousands more on the road as we travel between cities and towns, and with each donation that is made. Last year, close to 10,000 people donated to our efforts – that’s quite an impact! Riders and crew range in age from 18 to 73. To donate, participate or volunteer: https://www.thesmartride.org/



November 14 & 15 – Equality Florida Gala – Sponsor Appreciation Party on Saturday and Equality Florida Broward Gala on Sunday. Held Sunday, November 15th, at the Panorama Ballroom at Pier Sixty Six in Fort Lauderdale, the Gala is Equality Florida's largest fundraiser of the year. It's a fun, elegant party, and an opportunity to honor important leaders of the LGBT equality movement. Last year we were delighted to honor Jazz Jennings with our Voice For Equality award. THIS year Equality Florida is so proud to be honoring James (Jim) Obergefell, whose winning case brought marriage equality to the entire nation on June 26th! http://www.eqfl.org/browardgala
