On this Blog, I will post a highlight of some of the LGBT non-profit and political events that are going on in Ft. Lauderdale each month, so folks who want to attend can put them on their Calendars.

Thursday, January, Jan 4 – GLLN Social Luncheon – 11:45am - 1:15pm.
Tee Jay Thai Sushi, 2254 Wilton Drive ,Wilton Manors, FL 33305. Monthly luncheons are on the first Thursday of every month. The mission for the gay & lesbian lawyers network is to provide a social network in which gay, lesbian and gay friendly lawyers can develop their practices through friendships, referral relationships and professional development. Wednesday, Jan 10 – Dolphin Democrats Meeting – Second Wednesday of Each Month. 7:00pm. The Pride Center, 2040 A North Dixie Highway, Wilton Manors, FL. 7:00 pm – Pizza and social. 7:30 pm – Meeting. “Further, it shall be the mission of this organization to foster good will between gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) members of the Democratic Party and the community at large. We seek individual freedom in the framework of a just society and political freedom in the framework of meaningful participation by all citizens.” http://www.dolphindems.org/

Friday, Jan 12 – SunServe Silver Serve Luncheon – 11:00am – 1:00pm (Second Friday of the Month). ArtServe, 1350 E. Sunrise Blvd. Fort Lauderdale, FL. Every Second Friday of the Month. SunServe is a model 501(c)(3) nonprofit social service agency serving the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning (LGBTQ) community in South Florida. We provide high quality, compassionate, and progressive care for all, including those in financial need, minorities, youth, seniors, families, and those with life-challenging physical or emotional conditions. Saturday, Jan 13   PBCHRC's 30th Anniversary Winter Fête Home of James Berwind and Kevin Clark. 7:00pm - 10:00pm. Palm Beach County Human Rights Council supporters will be celebrating PBCHRC’s 30th Anniversary Winter Fête at Tarpon Cove, the Palm Beach home of James Berwind and Kevin Clark. Since tickets to both the 2016 and 2017 Winter Fêtes sold out long before we had the opportunity to send out invitations, we were not surprised that tickets to our 2018 Winter Fête also sold out without our having to spend money on printing and mailing invitations. Sold Out!

Saturday, Jan 13 – Pride Center Bingo – Second Saturdays of Each Month. 6:30 p.m. doors open; 7:30 p.m. Pride Center, 2040 N. Dixie Hwy, Wilton Manors. Main Hall, Schubert Building. Bingo; proceeds benefit The Pride Center. The cost is $15.00 for the Bingo Package.  There will be a concession stand open and there is a 50/50 raffle. Tuesday, Jan 16 – Fort Lauderdale Primary Election – If you live in Fort Lauderdale, remember to vote in the Primary Election. Three people are running for the mayor, as Mayor Jack Seiler steps down because of term limits. Three of the four city commissioner seats are contested. Dean Trantalis: A current commissioner, longtime gay-rights activist and attorney is running for Mayor. And, local Gay attorney, George W. Castrataro is running for Dean Trantalis’  current seat on the Commission. Saturday, January 18 – Gamma Mu Foundation Celebration Event – 6:30pm. Shore club Condominium Clubhouse, 1901 N. Ocean Blvd, Fort Lauderdale, FL. Please plan to join the Gamma Mu Foundation for our CELEBRATION 18 event and will include premium open bar, top caliber food, and elegant music. For this year’s event, we are asking for a sponsorship of $150 (same as last year) per person. Friday, January 19 & Saturday, January 20 – Smart Ride 14 – Miami to Key West - The SMART Ride began as a dream to create a bicycle event where 100% of pledges raised could go back to the communities to be used for direct services. Thirteen years later, over $8.5 million has been distributed throughout Florida, making SMART Ride the 2nd largest AIDS bicycle ride in the country and the only one of its size to give back 100%. http://thesmartride.org

Saturday, Jan 20  – Wilton Manors Art Expo – Held on the 3rd Saturday of each month – 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm. January through March, along the 1.1 mile Wilton Drive, in the Wilton Manors Art and Entertainment District. A Showcase of local artists, craftsmen, musicians, and businesses in the Arts & Entertainment District and Dixie Village. This cultural experience brings a multitude of visitors into our numerous unique galleries, shops, bars, and restaurants on Wilton Drive and vicinity. http://www.wmae.org

Monday, Jan 22 – SAGE of South Florida Men's Night Out – 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm at Rumors, 2426 Wilton Dr., Wilton Manors, FL 33305. Every fourth Monday of the month, SAGE men meet at Tropics for cocktails, dinner and lively conversation. Thursday, April 12  – SAGE & Friends Ft. Lauderdale – SAGE will be honoring Bruce Williams from the Pride Center for his amazing work on behalf of LGBT older adults in Broward.

March LGBT Events in Ft. Lauderdale

On this Blog, I will post a highlight of some of the LGBT non-profit and political Events that are going on in Ft. Lauderdale each month, so folks who want to attend can put them on their Calendars. With that in mind, here are the events I want to highlight for March 2013: March Events: Friday, March 1 – Opening Reception for Stonewall National Museum & Archives Exhibit – 6:00pm – 8:00pm Stonewall National Museum & Archives,1300 East Sunrise Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale. Opening reception of photo essay by local media artist Kim Cohane featuring profiles of creative LGBTQ youth. Kim and many any artists depicted will be present.
