March 2019 LGBT Events in Ft Lauderdale

On this Blog, I will post a highlight of some of the LGBT non-profit and political events that are going on in Ft. Lauderdale each month, so folks who want to attend can put them on their Calendars.

Saturday, March 2 – Thou Art Woman-Open Mic & Performance Night– 7 PM - 10 PM, Broward Center for the Performing Arts, 201 SW 5th Ave, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33312. There is no other night like this! LGBTQ women and their allies share their talent and their stories during an open mic night at the Amaturo Theatre. Come enjoy poetry, spoken word, dance, comedy, music and everything else that can happen during the night! Hosted by G of and Nik Harris. Performers include Inez Barlatier, May Reign the Poet, Rebecca “Butterfly” Vaughns, TheePoeticTruth, and creative dance group Da Haus. Friday, March 8 – SunServe Silver ServeLuncheon – 11:00am – 1:00pm (Second Friday of the Month). ArtServe, 1350 E. Sunrise Blvd. Fort Lauderdale, FL. Every Second Friday of the Month. SunServe is a model 501(c)(3) nonprofit social service agency serving the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning (LGBTQ) community in South Florida. We provide high quality, compassionate, and progressive care for all, including those in financial need, minorities, youth, seniors, families, and those with life-challenging physical or emotional conditions. Sunday, March 10 – Gay Men's Chorus of South Florida's Gala Brunch– 11:00 AM. Pier 66 Hotel & Marina, 2310 SE 17th St, Fort Lauderdale. The Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida’s Gala Brunch has become one of the most highly anticipated social events of the season.  The brunch welcomes nearly 500 guests to a lively, engaging and entertaining morning of food, fun and music.  Silent and live auctions offer great prizes for bidders, while also raising funds to support the Chorus’s operations and outreach work in the community. 

Wednesday, March 13 – Dolphin Democrats Meeting– Second Wednesday of Each Month. 7:00pm. The Pride Center, 2040 A North Dixie Highway, Wilton Manors, FL. 7:00 pm – Pizza and social. 7:30 pm – Meeting. “Further, it shall be the mission of this organization to foster good will between gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) members of the Democratic Party and the community at large. Thursday, March 14 – ADL of Florida Transgender Awareness Event– 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm at Bailey Hall at Broward College, 3501 Davie Road, Davie, FL 33314. Join the ADL of Florida to learn how people experience gender differently and how to be allies to the transgender community. Panelists:

Saturday, March 30 - Pride Center Diversity Honors- 7:00 PM. Seminole Hardrock & Casino, Hollywood. The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood will be the setting for the Diversity Honors gala that kicks off Harvey Milk Day events across the nation and will benefit the Harvey Milk Foundation and The Pride Center at Equality Park. This highly anticipated event will showcase those who are transforming lives by living authentically and advancing inclusiveness.
