LGBT Events in Ft Lauderdale
On this
Blog, I will post a highlight of some of the LGBT non-profit and political
events that are going on in Ft. Lauderdale each month, so folks who want to
attend can put them on their Calendars.
Thursday,
April 2, 2015 – GLLN CLE Luncheon – 11:45am – 1:15pm. Timpano Italian Chop
House, 450 Las Olas Boulevard, Ft. Lauderdale. Cost: $25 members; $30
non-members. Includes appetizers, entree, dessert, soda, coffee/tea, tax and
tip. OPIC: “Ethics: CIA and Executive Branch” SPEAKER: Denise O’Connell, Ass’t
General Counsel, Ethics, Central Intelligence Agency. Ms. O’Connell will
provide an overview of the Ethical Issues which confront CIA and other Federal
Executive Branch Employees, including Conflicts of Interest, Both Financial and
Post-Employment; Impartiality; and Misuse of Position. We will also be joined
by Christopher Courtemanche, Inclusive Solutions and Outreach LGBT Community
Outreach Program Manager For The CIA. (If you are so inclined, polish your
resumes.) This will be a very exciting seminar, and is the first time that the
CIA has addressed the GLLN. Because this topic will be of interest to all, even
though we have applied for 1 CLE Ethics Credit, this luncheon is open to

April 4 – Bunnies On The Drive...A Garden Party –
1:00pm – 6:00pm. Richardson Historic Park and Nature Preserve, 1937 Wilton
Manors Drive, Wilton Manors, FL. Join us for our First Annual Bunnies On The
Drive...A Garden Party at Richardson Park. Take part in the Easter Bonnet or
Gym Bunny Contest, win prizes at the Bunny Toss or bid on Easter Baskets or

April 9 – Ft. Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce Gay and Lesbian Business
Xchange (GLBX) Business After Hours – 5:30pm - 7:00pm. TBD. Broward County's
premiere gay-friendly networking organization, maximizing our member’s business
profitability. The GLBX Business After Hours receptions are a key element
in creating and fostering these relationships. The GLBX meets either the second

April 10 – SunServe Silver Serve Luncheon – 11:00am – 1:00pm (Second
Friday of the Month). ArtServe, 1350 E. Sunrise Blvd. Fort Lauderdale, FL.
Every Second Friday of the Month. SunServe is a model 501(c)(3) nonprofit
social service agency serving the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and
Questioning (LGBTQ) community in South Florida. We provide high quality,
compassionate, and progressive care for all, including those in financial need,
minorities, youth, seniors, families, and those with life-challenging physical
or emotional conditions. We also perform numerous education and outreach

April 11 – 6th Annual International Gay Polo – 12:00 PM –
7:00 PM. International Polo Club Palm Beach, 3667 120th Ave S, Wellington,
Florida 33414. Set at the International Polo Club Palm Beach, North America's
only high goal polo venue, the 6th Annual International Gay Polo Tournament
continues to look for exciting new ways to advance your overall enjoyment. The
Gay Polo League VIP Tent on tournament day is the ultimate in polo experience
with table-side service, an open bar and VIP parking for you and five of your
besties. Or maybe... be creative with an over-the-top tailgate party with your
friends! With four days of entertainment and multiple ways to have an amazing
time, you can experience polo just like a true Palm Beacher. Gates open at 10

April 11 – Pride Center Bingo – Second Saturdays of Each Month. 6:30 p.m. doors
open; 7:30 p.m. games begin Main Hall, Schubert Building. Bingo; proceeds
benefit The Pride Center. The cost is $15.00 for the Bingo Package. There
will be a concession stand open and there is a 50/50 raffle. In general about

Sunday, April 12 – 4th Annual Gala
GLLN Gala – 4:00 –
7:00pm. Ocean Manor Hotel, 4040 Galt Ocean Drive, Fort Lauderdale. Join them
early for the VIP Champagne & Caviar Reception from 3:15 – 4:00pm. This
year, all the ticket sales and silent auction proceeds will benefit Broward
LGBTQ Youth Initiatives. In collaboration with Our Fund, GLLN has established a
donor-advised fund for its GALA. GLLN will have over 25 silent and live auction
items for purchase with all proceeds benefitting Broward LGBTQ youth. GLLN has
Over $21,000 Complete Wedding Package For Auction At Its Annual Gala. The
amazing wedding package will be auctioned just after the GALA speakers and is
valued at just over $21,000; it includes a venue with sit down brunch for up to
75 people (value of $110 per person), flowers, photography, videography,
chocolates, spa package, invitations, complete liquor for 75 people, wedding
cake, Hair and Make-up, event planning, DJ, and Lipotronic sessions. This
year’s event will benefit Broward LGBT Youth Initiatives. Tickets $60 until
March 31, 2015, $80 after 3/31/15. Group of 5 tickets $250 until March 31,

Tuesday,
April 14 – Slow Burn Theatre presents songs from Rent at Stonewall Gallery –
7:00pm. Free at Stonewall Museum – Wilton Manors Gallery, 2157 Wilton Drive,
Wilton Manors, Wilton Manors, 33305. Meet the actors and hear the songs from, Rent, the
musical that changed the face of how LGBT lives are portrayed on the Broadway
stage. Slow Burn Theatre company presents the cast of their current production
of Rent in a performance at Stonewall Museum – Wilton Manors Gallery. Complementary
refreshments and bar provided. Capacity is limited for this special “standing
room only” theatrical event. Attendees of this event will have a special
opportunity to purchase discounted tickets for performances of RENT (4/9-4/26)

April 15 – The Equality Garden Club – The Equality Park Garden Club meets
every 3rd Wednesday of the month except December. It is a Gay and
straight friendly garden club with a variety of plant related events.
Meetings include a guest speaker with a horticultural topic, plant

April 15 – Stonewall Museum LAVENDER SALON –7:00pm. Free at Stonewall Museum –
Wilton Manors Gallery, 2157 Wilton Drive, Wilton Manors, Wilton Manors, 33305. The
Lavender Salon presents “Change the Channel: Television and the Emergence of
LGBTQ Media”, coinciding with the current exhibit, As Seen On TV: An
Exploration of LGBT Characters: 1954-1979, on exhibit at Stonewall Gallery
until April 26. Presented by Stonewall National Museum & Archives and
Florida Atlantic University, The Lavender Salon is an ongoing series of panel
discussions dedicated to LGBTQ issues, topics, thought leaders and scholarship.
A lively and informed discussion panel will take place with the following

April 16 – The Pride Center’s Founders Circle Reception – 6:00 – 8:00pm.
Yolo/Vibe Lounge, 333 E. Las Olas Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301. The
Founder's Circle are individuals who make a monthly gift of $100 to the Pride

3rd Thursday of every month at various locations. The mission for the Gay &
Lesbian Lawyers Network is to provide a social network in which gay, lesbian
and gay friendly lawyers can develop their practices through friendships,
referral relationships and professional development. Our intention is to fully
realize a true business and social network and to provide the opportunity to
our participants to support one another in our practices, to promote ourselves

April, along the 1.1 mile Wilton Drive, in the Wilton Manors Art and
Entertainment District. The official participants include galleries, eclectic
stores, cafes, boutiques and upscale restaurants, which will host over 40 local
artists. This is a grassroots collaboration bringing culture and business
together for the public to enjoy. Experience Stonewall Gallery, as part
of the Art Walk On Wilton Drive. Free admission and festive offerings along
Wilton Drive and throughout Wilton Manors.

April 28 – GFLGLCC Lunch and Learn – 12:00pm – 1:00pm. Dapur Asian
Tapas and Ultra Lounge, 1620 N. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33305. The
4th Tuesday Luncheons are in addition to the Quarterly Networking Luncheons and
Executive Lunch. Each will feature a Speaker/Sponsor who will speak briefly to
the attendees. There will be only ONE speaker per luncheon. Each luncheon is
limited to 25 people which will allow more time to get to know the attendees.
Lunch will be served "family style" with several options to save time
