Thursday, June 2 Stonewall National Museum & Archives and Our Fund Foundation Reception and Preview Performance6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Stonewall Gallery, 2157 Wilton Drive, Wilton Manors, 33305. Matthew Shepard was a 21-year old student at the University of Wyoming when he was brutally attacked and tied to a fence in a field outside of Laramie, Wyoming and left to die on October 7, 1998.  The horrific events that took place that night would become one of the most notorious anti-gay hate crimes in American history and spawned an activist movement.  The life and death of Matthew Shepard changed the way we talk about, and deal with, hate in America.  West Palm Beach-based Opera Fusion has commissioned Fort Lauderdale composer Michael W. Ross to tell Matthew’s story in a musical drama written for the opera stage.  This significant piece of art will keep Matthew’s story alive for future generations. Before the world premiere, supporters of Stonewall National Museum & Archives and Our Fund Foundation are invited for a preview of the show with a presentation by composer Ross, production director (and Opera Fusion Artistic Director) Dean Peterson and Opera Fusion’s president, Dr. Xavier Garcia.
