On this Blog, I will post a highlight of some of the LGBT non-profit and political events that are going on in Ft. Lauderdale each month, so folks who want to attend can put them on their Calendars.

Thursday, May 4 – GLLN Social Luncheon – 11:45am - 1:15pm. Timpano’s, 450 E Las Olas Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301. Monthly luncheons are on the first Thursday of every month. The mission for the gay & lesbian lawyers network is to provide a social network in which gay, lesbian and gay friendly lawyers can develop their practices through friendships, referral relationships and professional development. Saturday, May 6 – 2nd Annual SMART Ride Bowling Tournament – 1:00pm – 4:00pm. Manor Lanes Bowling/ Sports Den Pub, 1517 NE 26th St, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33305. Join us for an afternoon of fun, friends, prizes, and bowling. Music by DJ Marcio! Food can be ordered from Kingpins Pizza & Wings! $25 Entry (+ donations) per person includes 3 games and shoe rental. Saturday, May 6 – 3rd Annual LGBT Caribbean Pride Festival – 4:00pm - 9:00pm. Richardson Historic Park & Nature Preserve, 1937 Wilton Drive, Wilton Manors, Florida 33305. Tropical drink and Caribbean eats, all while jammin to island beats. It's SunServe's 3rd Annual LGBT Caribbean Pride event. Come check out this exotic festival that includes dancing, drinking, and costumed entertainment. Saturday, May 6 – Diversity Honors at Hard Rock Live – 7:00pm - 10:00pm. 1 Seminole Way, Hollywood, Florida 33314. Join us for the third annual Diversity Honors, presented by Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino - Hollywood, FL, as we kick off Harvey Milk Day events across the worlds. This black-tie-optional gala will benefit the Harvey Milk Foundation and The Pride Center and spotlight those who are transforming lives by living authentically and advancing inclusiveness. This collaborative effort between The Harvey Milk Foundation and The Pride Center at Equality Park, along with generous support from Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, has put South Florida on the international stage of LGBTQ rights and activism in honor of Harvey Milk, one of the first openly gay elected officials in the United States who was assassinated shortly after winning a seat on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the election of Harvey Milk to public office. The magical evening will commence with a lively cocktail reception and a variety of silent auction items. A seated three-course dinner will be followed by a memorable awards presentation hosted by Craig Stevens, WSVN-TV evening news anchor. Wednesday, May 10 – Dolphin Democrats Meeting – Second Wednesday of Each Month. 7:00pm. The Pride Center, 2040 A North Dixie Highway, Wilton Manors, FL. 7:00 pm – Pizza and social. 7:30 pm – Meeting. “Further, it shall be the mission of this organization to foster good will between gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) members of the Democratic Party and the community at large. Friday, May 12 – SunServe Silver Serve Luncheon – 11:00am – 1:00pm (Second Friday of the Month). ArtServe, 1350 E. Sunrise Blvd. Fort Lauderdale, FL. Every Second Friday of the Month. SunServe is a model 501(c)(3) nonprofit social service agency serving the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning (LGBTQ) community in South Florida. We provide high quality, compassionate, and progressive care for all, including those in financial need, minorities, youth, seniors, families, and those with life-challenging physical or emotional conditions. Saturday, May 13 – Pride Center Bingo – Second Saturdays of Each Month. 6:30 p.m. doors open; 7:30 p.m. Pride Center, 2040 N. Dixie Hwy, Wilton Manors. Main Hall, Schubert Building. Bingo; proceeds benefit The Pride Center. The cost is $15.00 for the Bingo Package.  There will be a concession stand open and there is a 50/50 raffle. Tuesday, May 16 - GFLGLCC May Mixer at Xtreme Action Park - 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM. The Car Museum inside Xtreme Action Park. Action Park 5300 Powerline Rd, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33309. Wednesday, May 17 – The Equality Garden Club – The Equality Park Garden Club meets every 3rd Wednesday of the month except December.  It is a Gay and straight friendly garden club with a variety of plant related events.  Meetings include a guest speaker with a horticultural topic, plant exchange, raffle table, and refreshments. Thursday, May 18 – Equality Florida "Florida Council Mixer." – 6:30-8:30 p.m. Private party for EQFL's sponsor level donors. Please join our wonderful hosts, awesome supporters and the South Florida leadership team for a special evening. There will be 'licious lite bites, cocktails and great company! Our very special guest speaker will be Equality Florida's Field Director, Amber Paleomilio.Amber spearheaded our efforts that passed a Human Rights Ordinance in Jacksonville, and most recently helped to coordinate our largest Lobby Days in Tallahassee, and we look forward to her insider's update. Wednesday, May 24 – Lips’ Drag Dining and Celebrity Guest Fundraiser for Stonewall National Museum 7:00pm - 9:00pm. Lips 1421 E Oakland Park Blvd, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33334. Supporters of Stonewall National Museum & Archives will have more fun than ever with Lips very own cast of characters serving up great food and fun alongside five celebrity guests servers. On this Blog, I will post a highlight of some of the LGBT non-profit and political Events that are going on in Ft. Lauderdale each month, so folks who want to attend can put them on their Calendars. With that in mind, here are the events I want to highlight for March 2013: March Events: Friday, March 1 – Opening Reception for Stonewall National Museum & Archives Exhibit – 6:00pm – 8:00pm Stonewall National Museum & Archives,1300 East Sunrise Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale. Opening reception of photo essay by local media artist Kim Cohane featuring profiles of creative LGBTQ youth. Kim and many any artists depicted will be present.
