Thursday, June 7 – GLLN Social Luncheon – 11:45am - 1:15pm. Timpano Chophouse, 450 E Las Olas Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301. Monthly luncheons are on the first Thursday of every month. The mission for the gay & lesbian lawyers network is to provide a social network in which gay, lesbian and gay friendly lawyers can develop their practices through friendships, referral relationships and professional development. Friday, June 8 – SunServe Silver Serve Luncheon – 11:00am – 1:00pm (Second Friday of the Month). ArtServe, 1350 E. Sunrise Blvd. Fort Lauderdale, FL. Every Second Friday of the Month. SunServe is a model 501(c)(3) nonprofit social service agency serving the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning (LGBTQ) community in South Florida. We provide high quality, compassionate, and progressive care for all, including those in financial need, minorities, youth, seniors, families, and those with life-challenging physical or emotional conditions. Saturday, June 9 – Pride Center Bingo – Second Saturdays of Each Month. 6:30 p.m. doors open; 7:30 p.m. Pride Center, 2040 N. Dixie Hwy, Wilton Manors. Main Hall, Schubert Building. Bingo; proceeds benefit The Pride Center. The cost is $15.00 for the Bingo Package.  There will be a concession stand open and there is a 50/50 raffle. Sunday June 10 – Curtain Up! Light the Lights! Tony Award Viewing Party to benefit Island City Stage 7:00 PM - 11:00 PM. The Pub, 2283 Wilton Dr. Wilton Manors, FL. “What good is sitting alone in your room?" when you can enjoy all the fun of the Tonys? Enjoy the red carpet, the award presentations and performances with other friends who love theater! During commercial breaks there will be raffles, show tune sing-alongs and performances by special guests and your Island City Board members. "That's Entertainment!" Scrape up "a buck, a yen, a mark or a pound" and help make Island City Stage's world go around. Monday, June 11 – Safe Schools South Florida's Turnabout 2018 Charity Event and Silent Auction – 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm. Georgie’s Alibi/Monkey Bar, 2266 Wilton Drive, Wilton Manors, FL. Hosted by Dame Edna and Nikki Adams! Come out to see your favorite bartenders and Alibi staff members perform as your favorite Divas of the Drive! Friday, June 15  – Our Night OUT – 7:00 PM - 11:00 PM. The Manor 2345 Wilton Dr., Wilton Manors, Florida 33305. Come OUT to OUR NIGHT OUT- the official Friday night event of the 2018 Wilton Manors Stonewall Parade and Festival! Be a part an unforgettable evening that brings together the Gay Men's Chorus of South Florida, Island City Stage, Stonewall National Museum & Archives and ArtsUnited, Inc. along with world class performers including RuPaul’s Drag Race season 10’s Monét X Change for a proud celebration of the uniquely creative expressions of the LGBTQ community. The evening culminates with a stunning musical, theatrical and visual spectacular featuring the best of South Florida's LGBTQ musical, artistic and cultural organizations. VIP tickets are $50 and include early entrance at 7PM, two hours of complimentary cocktails, passed hors d’oeuvres, and exclusive mezzanine viewing for the show. Saturday, June 16 – 2018 Wilton Manors Stonewall Parade and Festival – 4:00 PM - 11:00 PM. For the 19th consecutive year, the City of Wilton Manors will host the largest LGBT pride event in the greater Fort Lauderdale area! Commemorating the Stonewall Riots of 1969, the Stonewall Parade and Festival draws nearly 40,000 participants from across the U.S. The marketplace will open at 4 p.m. and feature more than 100 vendors, exhibitors and food trucks. At 5 p.m., the much-anticipated Stonewall Parade will travel down the north side of Wilton Drive, led by this year’s Grand Marshal, Chuck Panozzo, bassist and cofounder of the band Styx and activist for AIDS awareness and gay rights. A Celebration of the Human Spirit. Throughout the years, music has galvanized oppressed communities and given them the strength to come together and fight for their rights. On this Blog, I will post a highlight of some of the LGBT non-profit and political Events that are going on in Ft. Lauderdale each month, so folks who want to attend can put them on their Calendars. With that in mind, here are the events I want to highlight for March 2013: March Events: Friday, March 1 – Opening Reception for Stonewall National Museum & Archives Exhibit – 6:00pm – 8:00pm Stonewall National Museum & Archives,1300 East Sunrise Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale. Opening reception of photo essay by local media artist Kim Cohane featuring profiles of creative LGBTQ youth. Kim and many any artists depicted will be present.
