Friday, Nov 10 – SunServe Silver Serve Luncheon – 11:00am – 1:00pm (Second Friday of the Month). ArtServe, 1350 E. Sunrise Blvd. Fort Lauderdale, FL. Every Second Friday of the Month. SunServe is a model 501(c)(3) nonprofit social service agency serving the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning (LGBTQ) community in South Florida. We provide high quality, compassionate, and progressive care for all, including those in financial need, minorities, youth, seniors, families, and those with life-challenging physical or emotional conditions. Saturday, November 10 –  Pet Project Doggie Play Yard Opening    12:00 PM – 6:00 PM. The Pet Project FL, 2200 NW 9th Ave, Wilton Manors, Florida 33311. The Pet Project proudly announces the opening of our doggie play yard. The yard is secure and will have a few kiddie swimming pools, toys, treats and towels. $5.00 donation required per pet. All well behaved dogs are welcome. Saturday, Nov 10 – Pride Center Bingo – Second Saturdays of Each Month. 6:30 p.m. doors open; 7:30 p.m. Pride Center, 2040 N. Dixie Hwy, Wilton Manors. Main Hall, Schubert Building. Bingo; proceeds benefit The Pride Center. The cost is $15.00 for the Bingo Package.  There will be a concession stand open and there is a 50/50 raffle. Sunday, Nov 11 – Equality Florida Broward gala Pier 66 – 5:30-8:30 pm in The Crystal Ballroom at Pier Sixty-Six, 2301 SE 17th St, Fort Lauderdale, 33301. The annual event, presented by PNC Bank for the sixth consecutive year, attracts more than 500 community, business, political and student leaders. Awards will be given for outstanding leaders and community advocates for the LGBTQ+ community, including the “Florida Media for Equality” Award to be presented to Norm Kent, a longtime fixture in South Florida and publisher of the South Florida Gay News. Tickets are $175 and are tax deductible to the full extent allowed under the law. A limited number of tickets of reduced priced tickets are available for those of limited means. Monday, November 12, 2018 – 8th Annual LGBTQ Leadership Forum LGBTQ Rights in Trump's America – 6:00 PM – Doors open. 6:30 – 8:00 PM – Panel discussion. 8:00 - 9:00 PM – Reception. NSU Museum of Art, Horvitz Auditorium, One East Las Olas Blvd. Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301. Our Fund Foundation is partnering with Lambda Legal to examine the challenges to LGBTQ equality since the current administration came to office. Lambda Legal is the oldest and largest organization in the U.S. dedicated to the civil rights of LGBTQ people and everyone living with HIV. Lambda's attorneys are leading the charge to combat the current administration's policies and federal judge appointments that are potentially hostile to LGBTQ rights. Special guest, Arizona Representative Daniel Hernandez Jr., will share his Israel Mission Trip experiences and discuss his leadership involving equality in Israel and for Israel. On this Blog, I will post a highlight of some of the LGBT non-profit and political Events that are going on in Ft. Lauderdale each month, so folks who want to attend can put them on their Calendars. With that in mind, here are the events I want to highlight for March 2013: March Events: Friday, March 1 – Opening Reception for Stonewall National Museum & Archives Exhibit – 6:00pm – 8:00pm Stonewall National Museum & Archives,1300 East Sunrise Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale. Opening reception of photo essay by local media artist Kim Cohane featuring profiles of creative LGBTQ youth. Kim and many any artists depicted will be present.
