On this Blog, I will post a highlight of some of the LGBT non-profit and political events that are going on in Ft. Lauderdale each month, so folks who want to attend can put them on their Calendars.

Saturday, February 2 – Latinos Salud 10-Year AnniversaryGala – Design Center of the Americas (DCOTA) 1855 Griffin Road, Dania Beach. 7:00 - 11:00 PM (6:00 PM start for VIP guests). Come honor and celebrate 10 years of community partnerships, fabulous events, and most of all, improved health for Latinos, and the entire LGBT community!  Enjoy an open bar, local Hispanic musicians and performers, and a plated awards dinner, all within the stunningly designed and soaring DCOTA atrium. Local NBC6 news anchor Roxanne Vargas will emcee the evening. Friday, February 8 – SunServe Silver ServeLuncheon – 11:00am – 1:00pm (Second Friday of the Month). ArtServe, 1350 E. Sunrise Blvd. Fort Lauderdale, FL. Every Second Friday of the Month. SunServe is a model 501(c)(3) nonprofit social service agency serving the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning (LGBTQ) community in South Florida. We provide high quality, compassionate, and progressive care for all, including those in financial need, minorities, youth, seniors, families, and those with life-challenging physical or emotional conditions. Saturday, February 9 – SAGE & Friends in Miami– 7:00 - 9:00 PM. The Betsy Hotel, 1440 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach. Join SAGE for drinks and hors-d’oeuvres in Miami to celebrate our community’s trailblazers as well as honor Raquel Matas and Carla Lupi. At the reception, SAGE CEO Michael Adams will share updates from our work in South Florida and the rest of the country. Saturday, February 9 – Pride Center Bingo– Second Saturdays of Each Month. 6:30 p.m. doors open; 7:30 p.m. Pride Center, 2040 N. Dixie Hwy, Wilton Manors. Main Hall, Schubert Building. Bingo; proceeds benefit The Pride Center. The cost is $15.00 for the Bingo Package.  There will be a concession stand open and there is a 50/50 raffle. Tuesday, February 12 – III Points LGBTQ Activation!– 6 PM – 10 PM, Blackbird Ordinary, 729 Southwest 1st Avenue, Miami, Florida 33130. III Points Music Festival and Equality Florida invite you to a discussion of Self-Love and Acceptance with the community at Blackbird Ordinary. Moderated by Michael Gongora, Vice Mayor of Miami Beach, topics of self-love, acceptance and assurance will be discussed, and related stories will be celebrated and shared in this open, inclusive space. Wednesday, February 13 – 4Ward Gala– 6:30 - 9:30 PM. Bacardi Headquarters, 2701 South LeJeune Road, Coral Gables. Join the 4th annual 4Ward Gala and the Pa’Lante (4Ward) Awards honoring those who have made an outstanding contribution to grass roots organizing and engagement. This event is an exclusive fundraiser for 4Ward Miami, Inc which promotes civic engagement in South Florida through its programming. 4Ward Miami produces the Gay8 Festival hosted by the LGBTQ community and held on Sunday 2/17 (President’s Day Weekend), and 4Ward Americas – an LGBTI international human rights confernce at the University of Miami during the same weekend. Wednesday, February 13 – Dolphin Democrats Meeting– Second Wednesday of Each Month. 7:00pm. The Pride Center, 2040 A North Dixie Highway, Wilton Manors, FL. 7:00 pm – Pizza and social. 7:30 pm – Meeting. “Further, it shall be the mission of this organization to foster good will between gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) members of the Democratic Party and the community at large. Sunday, February 17 – Gay8 Festival– 11 AM - 10 PM. SW 8th St. from 14th Ave. to 17th Ave. Miami, Florida. Gay8 is a Hispanic LGBT art, music and food street festival in Miami. The one day festival blends all of South Florida’s delights into one gigantic party in the heart of Miami’s historic, Little Havana. Gay8 is preceded by two days (Friday and Saturday) of festival related activities at local sponsoring restaurants, galleries and dance clubs–which will host special VIP/ Sponsor events. Sunday, March 10 – Gay Men's Chorus of South Florida's Gala Brunch– 11:00 AM. Pier 66 Hotel & Marina, 2310 SE 17th St, Fort Lauderdale.
