February 2018 LGBT Events in Ft Lauderdale

On this Blog, I will post a highlight of some of the LGBT non-profit and political events that are going on in Ft. Lauderdale each month, so folks who want to attend can put them on their Calendars.

Thursday, February 1 – GLLN Social Luncheon – 11:45am - 1:15pm. Monthly luncheons are on the first Thursday of every month. The mission for the gay & lesbian lawyers network is to provide a social network in which gay, lesbian and gay friendly lawyers can develop their practices through friendships, referral relationships and professional development. Wednesday, February 7 – Our Fund Foundation and ArtServe auction of The Charles L. Ross Photography Collection of Male Nudes Silent Auction  –  5:00 PM - 7: PM / Live Auction: 7”00 PM – 9:00 PM. ArtServe, 1350 E. Sunrise Blvd, Fort Lauderdale. Our Fund Foundation and ArtServe are partnering on an auction of photographs, ranging in value between $100 - $12,000, that will raise funds to be distributed through Our Fund's grant program. A donor to numerous LGBT causes and organizations, Chuck is donating his extensive and impressive photography collection and a few other artworks to raise money for Our Fund Foundation in order to benefit South Florida LGBT organizations and causes at this critical time in our history. Special Appearance by David Leddick speaking about Male Nude Photography and signing his new autobiography. Bar & appetizers throughout the event. Bid and purchase NOW on-line at On-line Auction Preview. RSVP at Photography Auction at ArtServe

Friday, February 9 – SunServe Silver Serve Luncheon – 11:00am – 1:00pm (Second Friday of the Month). ArtServe, 1350 E. Sunrise Blvd. Fort Lauderdale, FL. Every Second Friday of the Month. SunServe is a model 501(c)(3) nonprofit social service agency serving the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning (LGBTQ) community in South Florida. We provide high quality, compassionate, and progressive care for all, including those in financial need, minorities, youth, seniors, families, and those with life-challenging physical or emotional conditions. Saturday, February 10 – Pride Center Bingo – Second Saturdays of Each Month. 6:30 p.m. doors open; 7:30 p.m. Pride Center, 2040 N. Dixie Hwy, Wilton Manors. Main Hall, Schubert Building. Bingo; proceeds benefit The Pride Center. The cost is $15.00 for the Bingo Package.  There will be a concession stand open and there is a 50/50 raffle. Sunday, February 11 – Youth Pride Band of South Florida 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM. Broward Center for the Performing Arts 201 SW 5th Ave, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33312. Each year the Pride Wind Ensemble invites high school students from the tri-county area to apply to the Youth Pride Band whose mission is to teach inclusion and acceptance while standing up against bullying in our schools. Guest conductor and prolific composer Robert Longfield will conduct the students in the first half of the performance. Adult mentors and members of the Pride Wind Ensemble will join forces with the Youth Band on the second half of the performance with well over 120 musicians on stage. https://www.facebook.com/events/151958922115474/

Wednesday, February 14 – Dolphin Democrats Meeting – Second Wednesday of Each Month. 7:00pm. The Pride Center, 2040 A North Dixie Highway, Wilton Manors, FL. 7:00 pm – Pizza and social. 7:30 pm – Meeting. “Further, it shall be the mission of this organization to foster good will between gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) members of the Democratic Party and the community at large. Thursday, February 15 – Latinos Salud Corozones Juntos Event – 6:30pm -8:00pm. 
Clubhouse at Wilton Station: 2605 NE 14th Ave, Wilton Manors 33334. You are cordially invited to attend a special event to learn more about Latino Salud and network with Broward LGBT community leaders! This is a FREE event but donations to support Latinos Salud services will be welcome. Saturday, February 17  – Wilton Manors Art Expo – Held on the 3rd Saturday of each month – 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm. January through March, along the 1.1 mile Wilton Drive, in the Wilton Manors Art and Entertainment District. A Showcase of local artists, craftsmen, musicians, and businesses in the Arts & Entertainment District and Dixie Village. This cultural experience brings a multitude of visitors into our numerous unique galleries, shops, bars, and restaurants on Wilton Drive and vicinity. http://www.wmae.org

Tuesday, February 20 – GFLGLCC February Mixer at The PUB Wilton Manors 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM. Tuesday, February 27 – GFLGLCC Quarterly Networking Luncheon Presented by AHF  11:30 AM - 1:00 PM. Thursday, April 12  – SAGE & Friends Ft. Lauderdale – SAGE will be honoring Bruce Williams from the Pride Center for his amazing work on behalf of LGBT older adults in Broward.
