March 2014 LGBT Events in Ft. Lauderdale

On this Blog, I will post a highlight of some of the LGBT non-profit and political events that are going on in Ft. Lauderdale each month, so folks who want to attend can put them on their Calendars.

Saturday, March 1 and Sunday, March 2 – Pride Fort Lauderdale 2014 – 12:00 pm – 7:00pm. This event is once again hosted at, Fort Lauderdale War Memorial Auditorium at Holiday Park (800 NE 8th St. Fort Lauderdale, FL). Admission price at the gate is $15 per day, or $25 for the weekend. Saturday, March 1 – Out & Ready for Hillary @ Pride Fort Lauderdale 2014 – Out & Ready for Hillary will have an exhibitor booth at Pride Fort Lauderdale 2014. We'll be giving away free Ready for Hillary swag so be sure to stop by our booth! Ready for Hillary is a national grassroots movement encouraging Hillary Clinton to run for president in 2016. Started by two volunteers in January 2013, Ready for Hillary now has nearly 2 million supporters and over 35,000 grassroots donors. ** We are currently looking for volunteers for our exhibitor booth. Tuesday, March 4 – Mack Power Lunch – 11:30am – 1:30pm at Grill 401 Las Olas, 401 Las Olas Blvd., Ft. Lauderdale, FL. At the beginning of every Power Lunch we offer approx. 30 minutes to introduce yourself and chat with fellow attendees in a social setting. There may be a very brief presentation by an event sponsor to share insights and industry information. March 7 – VIP Reception for National Gay and Lesbian Task Force’s Winter Party Festival  – 7:30pm – 10:00pm. The James Royal Palm, 1545 Collins Ave, Miami Beach, FL. Tickets are $85pp. http://www.winterparty.com/purchase 

March 5 -10 – National Gay and Lesbian Task Force’s Winter Party Festival  – Launched in 1994 as a one-time charity dance event on the sands of beautiful South Beach, Winter Party Festival has evolved into a week-long series of events benefiting the LGBT community nationally and locally.  A portion of the net precedes of WPF support the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force's efforts to take action, build power and create change for LGBT people. The majority of the proceeds are donated to local service organizations through a grant-making process administered by The Miami Foundation.  Over 10,000 guests from around the world attend our annual six-day extravaganza featuring the most spectacular venues, the most unforgettable parties and receptions and the best international DJ talent. http://www.winterparty.com/about-winter-party-festival 

Thursday, March 6  – GLLN Luncheon 12:00pm – 1:30pm. J. Marks Restaurant, 1245 North Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304. Monthly luncheons are the first Thursday of every month. The mission for the Gay & Lesbian Lawyers Network is to provide a social network in which gay, lesbian and gay friendly lawyers can develop their practices through friendships, referral relationships and professional development. Monday, March 10 – The Pride Center’s Founders Circle Reception – 6:00 – 8:00pm. Embassy Suites Hotel. The Founder's Circle are individuals who make a monthly gift of $100 to the Pride Center. There is no commitment to become a Founder, just a chance to meet folks and hear about the great work the Pride Center is doing. 

Tuesday, March 11 – Mack Mixer Fort Lauderdale – 6:30pm - 9:00pm. The Atlantic Hotel, 601 N Ft. Lauderdale Beach Blvd. Fort Lauderdale, FL. There’s no doubt MACK continues to redesign how business people create new relationships and establish friendships - regardless of sexuality. Thursday, March 13  – Ft. Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce Gay and Lesbian Business Xchange (GLBX) Business After Hours. 5:30pm - 7:00pm. Pelican Grand Beach Resort, 2000 North Ocean Blvd. Fort Lauderdale, FL 33305. Broward County's premiere gay-friendly networking organization, maximizing our member’s business profitability. The GLBX Business After Hours receptions are a key element in creating and fostering these relationships. The GLBX meets either the second or the fourth Thursday of each month, depending on venue.

Friday, March 14  – SunServe Silver Serve Luncheon – 11:00am – 1:00pm. ArtServe, 1350 E. Sunrise Blvd. Fort Lauderdale, FL. SunServe is a model 501(c)(3) nonprofit social service agency serving the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning (LGBTQ) community in South Florida. We provide high quality, compassionate, and progressive care for all, including those in financial need, minorities, youth, seniors, families, and those with life-challenging physical or emotional conditions. Saturday, March 15th – Florida Aids Walk Casino Night Kickoff Party – 8:00pm. Sidelines Sport Bar 2031 Wilton Dr, Wilton Manors, FL. Please join the Florida Aids Walk staff, Team Sidelines, and all the great volunteers of the organization for the Casino Night Kickoff Party for Florida AIDS Walk and Music Festival! Try your luck at the Blackjack Tables, Texas Hold'em Tables, or the Roulette Tables. We will be giving away some great prizes for the winners, as well as have several silent auction items, and a 50/50 Raffle. For your donation of $20, you get $2000 in chips to play at your tables of choice, or try them all. Wednesday, March 19 – The Equality Garden Club – The Equality Park Garden Club meets every 3rd Wednesday of the month except December.  It is a Gay and straight friendly garden club with a variety of plant related events.  Meetings include a guest speaker with a horticultural topic, plant exchange, raffle table, and refreshments. Sunday, March 30 – Lambda Legal Garden Party  – 5:00pm – 7:30pm. Bonnet House, 900 North Birch Road, Fort Lauderdale, FL. Please join Lambda Legal for the 10th annual Fort Lauderdale Reception. This annual event, a cocktail and hors d’oeuvres reception among the lush grounds of the Bonnet House Museum and Gardens will bring together more than 300 of our supporters from across South Florida’s LGBT and allied community to celebrate the work of Lambda Legal.

Saturday, April 5 – 5th Annual International Gay Polo Tournament at the International Polo Club in Wellington – Mark your calendars for the 5th Annual International Gay Polo Tournament. Thursday, April 24 – Dining Out for Life® to benefit Broward House - Help raise much needed funds for HIV/AIDs....and all you have to do is go out and have a fabulous meal!! On April 25, 2013, restaurants throughout South Florida will participate in the international annual event Dining Out for Life® presented by Subaru. The event is an HIV/AIDS Fundraiser and in South Florida the licensed agency for this event is Broward House, Broward County's oldest and largest HIV/AIDS community service organization supplying services up to and including housing, medical care and a myriad of other services to over 6,000 South Florida residents living with or at risk for the disease.
